Classes

The Academy offers over 130 classes per week in all aspects of Dance, Drama, Singing, Stage and Musical Theatre work, with the option of both show and exam classes in the students chosen styles. Our classes are for Beginners through to Advanced levels and cover people of all ages from 3 years through to adult. Our baby classes are an introduction to basic movement and rhythm, and are carefully structured to be fun yet secure. Ballet, Tap and Show Work classes are offered for children aged 3+, then Modern Dance classes are introduced from age 4+ years. From age 6 years the children are then given the option to start working towards a carefully structured exam syllabus set out by our chosen examination bodies: Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD.)

We understand that every child is different, so we also consider the age, experiences and personality of the child before recommending which classes would be most suitable. Each pupil is carefully monitored on their progress so are able to move to the next level of training in their own time.

Do I need to stay for each class?

We encourage parents not to stay once they are happy their child is settled as children
generally progress and achieve more without parental distraction. This also helps a child
gain independence and confidence at a young age.

Classes start from just £4 and the first introductory class is FREE, so there's no
obligation to stay, just try it to see what suits you.

If you wish your child to become a member of Dawn Dawson's Academy of Dance & Stage, then we

contact you to discuss the classes suitable for your child.

So we can make sure you / your child is enrolled in classes that suit individual needs and ability,
it is important that you tell us of any previous dance experience including any examinations taken
so we can structure a timetable that is appropriate.
